magazines, including the recently published, A Guide to the
Great Gardens of the Philadelphia Region. Workshop includes
instruction session, in-garden photo shoot period and
constructive critique of group’s work. Bring your own digital
camera to use. Sandwich lunch provided.
Supported in part by the Stanley Smith Horticultural Trust.
Space is limited. Please pre-register by September 19.

Growing Clivia

Thursday, November 6, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Members $15 w Non-members $20

Native to South Africa, Clivias entered the horticultural world
in the mid 19th century as a Victorian collector’s plant. They are
now widely available, although rare cultivars still sell at
premium prices. Clivas thrive on a sunny windowsill, and with
proper care present an amaryllis–like burst of orange or yellow
blooms in early spring. Join expert grower Mike Riska to learn
how it’s done. Refreshments will be served.
This lecture includes the opportunity to place a group
mail-order for Clivia miniata ‘Belgian Strain’ and return to DCH
to pot up the bare root plants upon arrival.
